UX Business Analyst

The Challenge:
USDA APHIS needed a centralized, online application for their various stakeholder groups who may be importing or moving plants or animals and animal products through the US. Previously applications were completed over the phone or by mail, leading to long, manual review processes including multiple kickbacks to users and collaboration with external reviewers.
My team created a consolidated "eFile" application with multiple Salesforce community portals for different users and an internal processing flow for USDA reviewers. Over this long term project, we implemented several features and did multiple redesigns to meet new needs and to remain compliant with continuous updates from the Salesforce platform standards over the years.

Requirements Gathering and Backlog Grooming: Through weekly working sessions with the client, we gathered over 2,000 system requirements, presented mock ups and created user stories related to specific product features, security, external integrations, and overall usability over 6 months. Constantly groomed backlog to manage team expectations and report to leadership.
Project Management and Strategy: Managed multiple cross-functional work-streams to drive delivery of key features of the initial product build. Managed team's velocity to identify and mitigate potential risks to delivery. Facilitated team retrospectives and discussions to implement better delivery strategies over the course of the project.
Stakeholder Management: Conducted quarterly Program Increment planning sessions to align team's efforts to business priorities. Continuously managed stakeholder expectations over 3 year period, building a great deal of trust with the client, leading to more opportunities for work.
Salesforce Platform: Initially built the system using Salesforce VisualForce pages, later implemented. Salesforce Lightning for low-code approach, tailored to the business's needs. Our team also designed, developed and tested multiple Community portals for our clients different stakeholders.
